The Birth of Shoames

In the Summer of 2008 the Blues Jam, then based at the Heathcote Arms in Leytonstone, suffered a mysterious loss.  The "snake" - a multicore cable used to connect the stage mics to the mixing desk - was stolen!

As well as causing obvious inconvenience, to Blues Jam MC Stevie King (a man by then already known to website visitors for his occasional flights of literary fancy) the incident provided the perfect excuse to - as he puts it - "Go off on one"

...and thus emerged our eponymous hero, his increasingly bizarre escapades to be serialised thereafter in regular instalments.

After a round dozen of same, in which he had by turns both thrilled and astonished us in equal measure, the world's only Consulting Defective melted back into the fog-choked alleyways of Stevie's imagination for good and all.

...or so everyone - including the author himself - believed. In the Autumn of 2009, to the unabashed delight of his readership and the continuing bafflement of his erstwhile chronicler, Dr. Wotsit, Shoames returned, in a further six instalments!

In celebration, the Blues Jam website began a weekly re-serialisation of the original 12 adventures, followed by the new ones. Once each instalment had made its appearance on the homepage, it was added to this archive - so if, by dint of whatever unthinkable calamity, you were unlucky enough to have missed an episode, rest assured that here is where you will find it, to enjoy at your leisure.  Click any of the icons on the left, and your chosen story will appear in this window.
